Djaga is an enigmatic Hip-Hop producer, emcee, and storyteller whose music fuses cinematic scope with experimental edge. Shaped by graffiti, Hip-Hop, and contemporary art, his sound moves through deep grooves, rebellious soul, and cross-cultural depth, weaving Jazz, Soul, Reggae, and unheard frequencies into sonic journeys that blur genres, cultures, and eras.
Raised in the pulse of West-Europe’s melting pot, with a background that spans continents, orchestras, underground collectives, and cultural projects, Djaga’s sound bridges Hip-Hop with cinematic orchestration. soulful Jazz, Reggae, and untold frequencies. Whether on stage with a tight live band, a gamelan ensemble, or a 60-piece orchestra, his performances are immersive experiences that stir thought and ignite connection.

From his early days with the award-winning group YMI (“Pancras East” won the Multicultural Award of Europe), to co-founding the visionary collective Ancient Scriptures, Djaga has consistently pushed the boundaries of Hip-Hop. Collaborations with reggae legends Poor Man Friend, opening for Yellowman, graffiti icons, and fellow musicians led to national recognition, including the Great Dutch Prize of South Holland and tours across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
A natural composer and visual thinker, Djaga began scoring music for theatre, exhibitions, and animated films. His ambitious concept album, The Morning Shapes the Night, tells the story of Eurasian identity from the Dutch East Indies to the present. It was brought to life with a groundbreaking live performance featuring the Royal Dutch Marine Orchestra at The Hague’s Concert Hall.
Djaga continues his creative journey through film, sound, and storytelling. He is currently developing the documentary “Return to Raw”, exploring Hip-Hop’s global migration and impact from New York, to The Netherlands, UK, France, and reaching regions like Indonesia. He also composed for the award-winning 2D animation “Gelise”, and continues to score immersive experiences for The Blend Within.
